FRENCH SECOND EMPIRE STYLE EMBROIDERED BANNER OR GUIDON - ROYAL CROWN AND EAGLE Dialogue a Neo-Renaissance apartment building inFrench Second Empire style banner or flag, embroidered wool with bullion ornamentation. Probably late 19th Century despite earlier style. Excellent condition featuring an eagle and crown surrounded by ermine. The yellow ribbons for attaching the banner to a pole are later additions. Possibly a trumpet or bugle tabard which would have been suspended from an instrument. Overall size is 14 inches by 12 inches, not including 2 inch fringe on three sides.
