The shell is hand carved from a single piece of mahogany and has a gouged, textured surface giving it an even more traditional look. Hand selected goat skin heads are held in place and tuned using a traditional system of nylon rope, and produce classic djembe sounds, from the bassy boom in the middle, to the sharp
